Joseph Pettipas, ARIDO, IDC, ASID, IIDA, RDI, LEED®AP Senior Vice President, Practice Leader – Hospitality and Retail, HOK
With well over two decades of experience, Joseph Pettipas understands today’s challenges facing the corporate, hospitality, and retail sectors of the built environment. As HOK’s Practice Leader – Hospitality and Retail, Joseph is responsible for ensuring that all projects exhibit a high standard of design excellence while supporting clients’ business objectives.
Joseph’s design teams have completed benchmark, large-scale projects in the United Arab Emirates, Doha, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Canada and the United States. Project types include indoor entertainment complexes, large shopping environments, ground work for a new city of 150,000 inhabitants, and a recent five-hotel addition to an existing shopping mall.
Joseph has received numerous design and effectiveness awards and taught at Ryerson University’s School of Interior Design, specializing in the study of colour and colour psychology. A former President of ARIDO, he is an active member of the Interior Designers of Canada, International Interior Design Association, American Society of Interior Designers and Retail Design Institute. He currently sits on the Board of the Design Exchange and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER) and is a Co-opted Board Member of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).
