Guidelines for Presentation Proposals

On behalf of the BUILDEX Edmonton Planning Committee, outlined below are guidelines for Presentation Proposals to be reviewed by the Planning Committee for potential inclusion in the 2011 BUILDEX Edmonton Conference Education Program. This is Edmonton's premier conference and tradeshow for the real estate & property management, renovation & construction and architecture & interior design industries, to be held March 22 & 23, 2011 in Edmonton.

Criteria for submissions:

  1. Title (this will likely be used in promotional materials if the seminar is chosen. Consider a title that will catch an audience’s attention).
  2. Presentation Synopsis: 4 – 5 sentence synopsis of the proposed presentation.
  3. Instructional approach: Indicate approach to be used, i.e. panel presentation, interactive/hands on learning, single speaker, etc. To consider for your proposal: research indicates delegates prefer panel presentations, meaning 2-3 speakers who will present a number of differing opinions and perspectives on the topic. Having more than one speaker is not mandatory.
  4. Learning Objectives: Identify the learning objectives to be achieved at the end of the seminar.
  5. Learning Devices/Tools: Indicate if a PowerPoint presentation or other alternative audiovisual learning devices will be used. (PowerPoint presentations are not mandatory but research indicates delegates prefer them.)
  6. Speaker name(s) and full contact information and a brief biography, including two references, outlining speakers' presentation skills. (This is not mandatory for the deadline date below yet will be required if seminars have been approved.)
  7. Most importantly: Conference seminars will be valid towards continuing education credits for various organizations. It is imperative that seminars contain valuable and timely information and are not used as an opportunity by the speaker or the speaker’s company to promote your services and/or products. The presentation must be broader in context to include a variety of options/products/perspectives in order to provide the best information possible to delegates. This is your company’s reputation in front of Edmonton’s elite decision-makers.

Please via email to Hailey Chan at by December 3, 2010. If you have any questions please call 604-730-2059.

We will contact only those who have provided submissions chosen for inclusion.
